三個星期後，苔絲離開了德伯家。她的母親責怪她既然發生了這樣的事，苔絲就應該想辦法和亞歷克結婚。但是苔絲不願意這樣做，因為在她心中根本就不愛亞歷克，如果她愛他，就會給自己爭取一些權益了。結果只能這樣吃了一個啞巴虧。
一年以後，苔絲在農場上做工，她還是很美麗，只不過懷中多了一個嬰兒（唉，可憐的苔絲）。因為是私生子，孩子沒有接受過洗禮。
嬰兒很快得了重病，奄奄一息。苔絲早已接受了命運的擺布，然而卻不能忍受他的孩子死後因為沒有受過洗禮而在煉獄中受苦。於是在一個夜晚，她只能自己給她的孩子施洗，並給他取名為苦惱。
苦惱死了。第二天苔絲問新來的牧師，她這樣私自受洗能不能得到上帝的承認，牧師說可以，苔絲也就安心了。不過在隨後苔絲坎坷的命運中，苔絲對宗教最終還是徹底的反叛了。正像作者在他的五十歲日記中所寫的那樣，到今天為止，我尋找上帝已經找了五十年，如果他真的存在，我早就找到了。

安琪和苔絲結婚了。婚禮後出現了不祥的預兆。新婚之夜，安琪向苔絲懺悔了自己以前的罪行，就是他也嫖過妓（看來那個時代的男人都那樣啊），苔絲原諒了他，並且因為他的懺悔給了苔絲勇氣，苔絲向他說出了那一段不堪回首的往事。
苔絲滿心以為安琪會原諒她，然而現實還是給了她殘忍的一擊。安琪無論如何也不能接受苔絲的不貞，盡管苔絲是無辜的，盡管苔絲為此痛苦萬分。苔絲說自己本不想嫁給他，可安琪一次又一次的逼她……（有時候我在想，安琪盡管本質上不壞，但是有些苛刻了）。
比起惡人來，有時好人的冷漠更讓人受到傷害。

I believe that one of the factors that makes a piece of literature or even a movie a masterpiece is how well the reader can relate to the story. This is definitely a book everyone can relate to.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a literary masterpieces, written in 1876 by the famous author Mark Twain. Tom Sawyer is a mischievous young boy who lives in the small town on the Mississippi River called St. Petersburg. The story line is simple, the book reads like a biography or a memoir of a summer in Tom Sawyer's life.

Tom Sawyer seems to be the precursor of and the template for misfit kids such as Dennis the Menace, Malcolm in the Middle, and Calvin and Hobbs. What makes this story great is that Tom Sawyer represents everything that is great about childhood. The book is filled with Tom's adventures playing pirates and war with his friend Joe Harper. Tom has a trusted friend, Huck Finn, who few of the alts approve of. The book is filled with ideas of how the world works, such as how pirates and robbers work, that are so innocent, they could only come from a child. It is a story filled with action, adventure, ingenious ideas, love, and schoolyard politics. The whole story is seemingly a complication of what people did or wish they did ring their childhood.
The book is a little difficult to read at first. Personally, it takes me a little while to get used to the 19th century dialect in the book. Other than referring to persons of African decent in derogatory terms (which I'm sure uses terms even young children already know), the book would be an enjoyable read for people of all ages. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to feel young again, if just for a few hundred pages.

yesterday, I read the novel called "Tess of the D'urbevilles". written by a
famous Englishwriter Thomas Hardy.
The novel tells a story about a pretty and good girl called Tess, who lived in a
village in Marlott. To her sadness, when she was seventeen, she was no longer a
pure and untouched girl. She gave birth to a baby, which didn't live long. So
Tess changed from a pure gir l to a grown —up.
Because she was the eldest of the 7 children in the family, she found a job to
support the whole family in a dairy.There she knew Angel and married him. But
unluckily. when Angel knew her sad story, he left her and went to Brazil.Tess
led a hard an d lonely life after that. Later when she knew Angel had retumed
home and found out that
she was living with the man who had given the damage to her before,Tess couldn't
accept the fact and killed the man who was living with her.

Then she escaped and spent together with Angel three days and nights. The police
found them on the moming of the fourth day. A few days later, Tess was executed.

Having read this novel, I like the heroine very much because of her purity,
warmness, nobility and the spirit of devotion, She dared to fight against the
evil, bravely seek and sturggle for the rights of love.
Thomas Hardy was famous for the poetical novels. "Tess of the D'urbevilles"is
one of this kind. The novel is so fresh that it is nearly like a poem. For
nearly a century, it has been popular with the people all over the world.

This is a book of grievous mood. A beautiful young girl』s life was destroyed graally and really---not by her energy, but by the people who said love to her. What kind of this love is? What make the love destroy its lover?
Tess could be a happy girl though her family was very poor. But 「noble, status, and money」 were strongly in her father』s mind, just because of the discovery that a parson said to him. Without their horse』s carrying load, life became rather difficult. Tess blamed herself completely, and she wondered what she could help her parents. Then Tess obeyed her mother』s idea, to work at the d』Urberville』s home, and met her cousin, Alec d』Urbervilles. This then was the beginning. Tess had to meet the wrong man, and one who was so strongly attracted to her. Yet to the right man, she was only a half-forgotten impression from an evening』s dancing party in a country field. This mistake was to have tragic results.
Alec used his clever brain to help Tess』s parents, and this made Tess feel grateful to him. Because of her slackening vigilance, Alec』s intention came true ---Tess would be maiden no more. As the people of her village said, 「It was to be.」 And from now on, Tess』s life was to be completely different.
Tess left Alec』s home, returned her village. But all had changed, Tess wouldn』t be happy, people in village wouldn』t see her as before. After her baby』s death, she had to leave her home, went to a far place.
Perhaps at that time we should thank Alec, thank baby』s death, or Tess wouldn』t leave her home and met Angel Clare, her right man in the dairy. Tess was a so lovely girl that Angel was soon crazy for her. At last, they conquered many difficulties and got married. But Tess』s experience was still her mortal wound, Angel couldn』t accept the truth and left her. The story came to its turning point again. When Angel realized his mistake and went back to look for Tess, all was too late, the poor girl again dropped into Alec』s trap. With the intertwine of love and hatred, Tess had to end herself with a tragic results.
God played with Tess so much. When her right man appeared, God yet didn』t give her happiness. Tess』s parents loved her, but it was just an instinctive love; Alec said love to her, but it was a evil love; Angel said love to her as well, but it was a immature and selfish love. He wanted Tess to forgive him, but he couldn』t forgive Tess. Tess didn』t make any mistakes, but at last, she born all punishments and sufferings. Wuthering Heights gives me a cold, withering, and lonely feeling; however, at the end the book the author shows us that the human kindness is not diminished at Wuthering heights, even though the wind can break off a tree that doesn』t mean it can break off the whole forest. Even though hatred destroyed Heathcliff , Catherine, Edgar and Elizabeth』s happiness, that doesn』t mean Cathy and Hareton』s happiness. Actually, there is no such a character I really like in Wuthering Heights, every character seems teemed with agony and animosity, especially Heathcliff. Heathcliff is an orphan before Mr.Earnshaw adopt him, and in the novel, it says that Mr.Earnshaw treats Heathcliff even better than his own son, Hindley Earnshaw. It』s quite amazing that in spite of Earnshaw』s nice treatment, Heathcliff has no gratitude at all, he revenged Hindley and Catherine, even their heirs. After reading Heathcliff』story, my feeling is complicated, although he is the avenger who dominate the whole story by using his vengeful machinations, he is also the most pitiful guy in Wuthering Heights; he doesn』t know what is love and don』t know how to love. Heathcliff has lived with the Earnshaws for more than 10 years, but there is no attachment between him and the whole family except Catherine, but even Catherine who was died because of Heathcliff』s tournament. When he is torturing others, he is also giving himself a suffering. Catherine, who is the heroine in the book, is described by Nelly as capricious and selfish. She is just like Heathcliff, doesn』t know how to love at all. Anyways, Wuthering Heights gave me a torment, you can』t see any warm scene in the book, all you see is the fierce wind howled, and wild moor. However, at the end, the combination between Hareton and Cathy seems a hopeful light in the darkness, and the break of the day finally coming!
